Alan Hart

Alan Hart (1942–2018) was a former ITN and BBC Panorama correspondent who enjoyed intimate access to, and on the human level friendship with, leaders on both sides of the many conflicts he covered, including “the two greatest opposites in all of human history” – Golda Meir, Mother Israel, and Yasser Arafat, Father Palestine. He also participated in the secret diplomacy of conflict resolution at the leadership level. His first book Arafat, Terrorist or Peacemaker? was published in 1984. In the early 1970s, his independent production company produced the first documentary on the true dimensions of global poverty, Five Minutes To Midnight. He also wrote a definitive analysis of the Middle East conflict, Zionism: The Real Enemy of the Jews (Vols. 1, 2 & 3). His family maintain a website dedicated to his legacy at alanhart.net.
